Super Hydrating Mocktail

super hydrating mocktail

I figured it was time to officially write up this Super Hydrating Mocktail recipe because I am obsessed with it! Did you know that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated? Are you one of them? This statistic is according to the National Library of Medicine. Yikes! I have always prided myself on how much water I drink, but sometimes I would slack – and to be honest, it got away from me.

A couple of months ago, my acupuncturist noted that I was dehydrated when she looked at my tongue. I was shocked. She recommended that I start drinking coconut water.

I had tried coconut water previously, and truthfully, I don’t enjoy it…so it was time to get creative. This is what sparked the creation of the Dr. MC Super Hydrating Mocktail! It is fun and easy to make. And I have to admit; I feel SO MUCH better when I am properly hydrated.

Before we dive into the recipe, let’s look at the benefits of Coconut water and signs that you may be dehydrated.

According to healthline.com, the benefits include:

  • Good source of several nutrients.
  • May have antioxidant properties.
  • May help lower blood sugar for people living with diabetes.
  • May help prevent kidney stones.
  • May support heart health.
  • Beneficial after prolonged exercise.
  • A delicious source of hydration.

Signs you are dehydrated for Adults according to  Medicine Plus:

  • Feeling very thirsty
  • Dry mouth
  • Urinating and sweating less than usual
  • Dark-colored urine
  • Dry skin
  • Feeling tired
  • Dizziness

So here is what to do!

Ingredients

  1. Pure not from concentrated coconut water (lots of options here, my favorite is the Wegman’s brand pure; however, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods make tasty ones)
  2. Pineapple Juice – I use Dole, and I love buying the 8-ounce cans.
  3. Cranberry Juice or Cherry Juice – I use Knudsen brand.

Instructions

  1. Shake 16 ounces of Coconut Water together with ice
  2. Add 4 ounces of Pineapple juice
  3. Add 2 ounces of Cranberry or Cherry juice on top
  4. Enjoy!

That’s it! Easy peasy. I recommend using a straw, adding an umbrella, and using a fancy glass! Give it a try and let me know how you like it.
